It’s cool….today Seth sent us an email about the service projects for youth week. Right after reading that, I was reading in John, about how Jesus washed the disciples feet:
[[ "He got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. " ]] -John 13:4-5
and that he told them to love one another:
[[ "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."]]  -John 13:34-35

This was pretty cool because I realized how we really need to get over ourselves and be more like Jesus. Jesus did such a lowly job that a servant would do, washing his disciples’ feet. And while this is a pretty well known story, it shows we really should be getting our hands dirty, volunteering and helping others, because, well, each person is a precious son or daughter of God. Because he loves us so much, we must love them in turn. Doing this also shows others, especially non-Christians, God unconditional love for them. That being said, I’m going to ask him if we could do some serious nitty-gritty jobs to bless others.
